Obituary

A native of Yazoo County, MS, Charline Wells was born to Kinzy and Laurena Wells on May 25, 1932. The youngest of 9 children, Charline devoted her life to Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of River Mountain Church at the time of her death. Her faith in God guided every aspect of her life, from family to friendships to business. More importantly, she sought to instill her faith in her children and grandchildren. She also used her unrelenting faith to inspire others in the community to attend church and often volunteered to transport people to service on Sundays.
Charline was also a successful business owner. She was the sole owner of Moonlighting Cleaning Services for 30 years. When she began her company in March of 1986, she knew that her business was about more than cleaning; she connected personally with her customers, often forming long-term relationships with them. Her cleaning service also provided jobs for those who may have experienced difficulty in finding employment. One of her greatest professional achievements was acquiring janitorial contracts with Yazoo County and other household and commercial spaces throughout the city. It was quite a feat for a woman of color to start and successfully run her own business for three decades; Moonlighting Cleaning Services was a testament to her ingenuity and perseverance.
Charline was the proud mother of four children, Barbara Wells of Whiteville, TN, Clint Wells (devoted daughter-in-love, Mary) of Jackson, MS, Katrina Wells of Yazoo City, MS, and Krisna Wells of Fitchburg, WI. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Makeela Wells, Kristen Wells Butler (Christopher), Allen Wells, Clint Wells, and Storm Sulton, three great grandchildren, Camden and Carson Butler and Aubrielle Wells, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and a sister.
