Dora Lee Brown was born August 17, 1935 to the late Plummer Collins
Jones and John Wesley Jones, Sr. in Holly Bluff, MS. She was the 5th of 12
children.
Dora Lee graduated from Yazoo City Training School in 1955. She
confessed her faith in God at an early age at Miller Chapel A.M.E. Church
in Holly Bluff, MS. She was employed for 35 years as a housekeeper and a
custodian at the Bank of Yazoo City until she retired. Dora continued her
Christian journey at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Yazoo City, MS. She loved her
church, church family and served dutifully as an usher until her health
failed.
Dora Lee married James Brown, to this union 3 children were born.
Preceding her in death is her husband, James Brown and oldest son,
Cornelius Lynn Jones, Sr. "KC". Three sisters, Lucille Williams, Fannie Scott
and Myrtle Eloise Collum and one grandchild, Destiny Andrea Jones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her daughter, Sharon Moore
and son, Dwayne (Tamara) Jones. Five brothers, John Jones, Jr., Samuel
(Gloria) Jones, Willie "Buddy" Jones, James (Alberta) Jones and Freddie
(Alice) Jones. Three sisters, Vera Moorehead, Addie B. Ward and Ruby
Jean Luckett. Eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of
extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family. One special
extended family, Bryan and Sara Jones.
