Dorothy "Doll" Green was born November
20, 1948 in Humphrey County, MS to
Warren and Anna Newton. She was the 8th child out
of 13 children. D orothy accepted Christ at an early age at
Center Point M.B. Church in Carters,
MS. She attended Humphrey County Schools, where
she graduated from I.T. Montgomery High School.
Soon afterwards Dorothy moved to Detroit,
Michigan, where she met her husband Earl
Green. The two were married and one child was born
to this union. Dorothy resided in Ridgeland, Mississippi and
worked at St. Dominic Hospital, where she
later retired from. After many years in Detroit,
Dorothy and her family moved back to Mississippi to
be closer to family. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and
grandmother. She attended Stronger Hope
Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. J.K.
Moore. Dorothy spent most of her time with family
and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her
parents, Warren and Anna Newton, four
brothers, Warren Jr., James, George and Thomas, one
sister, Arletha, and her one and only child Tina. D orothy leaves to honor and cherish her
memory a loving husband, Earl, one
grandchild, Tyler, three brothers, Marcus (Lajuana)
Newton, of Jackson, MS., Osker Newton, of Yazoo
City, MS, and Willie Earl (Ethel) Newton of Olathe,
KS, three sisters, Betty Joe (Earl) McGee, Sandra
(David) Washington and Cathie (Fredrick) Miles, all
of Yazoo City, along with many nieces, nephews,
family members and friends.
