Obituary

Dorothy Mae Rance McQuarter was born August 5, 1944 to the late
Alex and Golena Rance in Yazoo County,
Mississippi. Affectionately known as Doll Mae, she was the 9
the of 11 children. Dorothy attended Battle School (Whites Lane) in Yazoo
County in her early years and later attended Yazoo City Training
School, graduating in 1963. After graduating Dorothy became a
young mother to a son Calvin Rance who preceded her in death.
Dorothy married Booker 'Mack' McQuarter in 1972, to this union
they were blessed with one son, Curtis. Dorothy loved and always
taught her son, nieces and nephews to always put God first, as well
as the importance of family connections and unity.
Dorothy accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. She
joined the Triune MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Booker
Miles. The church later was led by Rev. A.B. Brown, and Dorothy
would often share the preaching and teachings of his messages.
Pastor Percy Puckett served as the Associate Pastor and often led
services during that time. Currently Rev. Charles Thurman leads the
church and ministry.
As an active member of the church, Dorothy served as a choir
member, musician, SundaySchool Teacher and custodian at Triune
MB Church. She honored and celebrated the leadership and
supported the ministry. Her joy was in worshipping and serving
God with her family.
Always taking the role as a caretaker, having cared for countless
relatives and friends, it was no surprise what Dorothy's career would
be. She was employed for over 27 years with the Care Inn (Yazoo
City, MS), which later was named Heritage Manor. Dorothy also
worked assisting several Doctors in Yazoo during her career.
Although Dorothy retired her caring and loving spirit of assisting
others continued. She cared for many and often cared for her nieces,
nephews, great -nieces, and great- nephews. She loved her family and
it was her joy to be in their presence. Her love, hearty laugh and big
smile could brighten a room.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, a loving devoted husband of
almost 50 years, Booker T. McQuarter, Jr., a son,Curtis Patrick
