Pastor Willie Earl Smith, Sr. was born to the late Johnny Hubbard and the late Ledora Smith on June 15,
1957. He was also reared alongside the Washington family whom he held dearly in his heart. Pastor
Willie Earl Smith departed this life peacefully at home with his family at his side on Thursday, March 11,
2022.
Pastor Willie Earl Smith truly received Christ under the ministry of his pastor and great mentor,
Superintendent LT Howard in Louise, MS at an early age. He was lled with the Holy Ghost and soon was
called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at age 16 years old.
He attended various public school systems until the 7th grade. He was blessed in later years to go back to
school and receive his high school diploma in January 2014.
He believed in getting engulfed in the word of God. He would spend countless hours yearly reading
through the whole bible. He served faithfully for many years in ministry from a minister to an elder
under the leadership of Superintendent LT Howard at New Jerusalem COGIC in Louise, MS. He was later
installed as pastor at St. Matthew COGIC in Eden, MS in the early 90's. He was soon afterwards installed
as pastor his home church, New Jerusalem COGIC in Louise, MS for many years. He later became pastor
of St. Paul COGIC in Yazoo City, MS for almost 18 years. His call was to seek and to save the lost for
Christ, and he preached the unadulterated word of God. He served gladly in his local church and the
district until his health failed. "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night
cometh, when no man can work." (John 9:4)
His testimony of salvation could be heard in action in his testimony and songs. Some of his favorite songs
were "I've Decided to Make Jesus My Choice" and "He's Sweet I Know." He loved and served his church
and his family faithfully.
