Elizabeth M. Shelton was born May 12, 1942 to the late Louise Richards Moore and the late
Abe Moore. Elizabeth "Doll" worked most of her young adult life in housekeeping at King
Daughter Hospital and Martha Coker of Yazoo City. She accepted Christ at an early age at
Tri-Union Independent Methodist Church. Later she joined Oak Grove A.M.E church of Benton,
MS.Later in age she became a member of Helping Hands Outreach MInistry.
Elizabeth "Doll" had 5 siblings who all preceded her in death. 3 brothers; Raymond Nelson,
Charlie Nelson, and John Moore. 2 sisters; Laura Moore and Alice Moore.
Elizabeth married A.B. Shelton Jr in 1967. God blessed this Union with 6 loving children. Albert
(Vanessa) Moore, Doris(Surry)Taylor, Helen Bridges,Sharron Moore, Cara(Joe) Lockhart, and
Allen Shelton III all of Yazoo County. Also a special daughter Trudy Shelton of West Virginia.
She leaves 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren to continue her legacy. Elizabeth
leaves a host of sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Although Elizabeth's health began to fail in the year of 2000, it did not stop her strong will to
keep going. She had a beautiful spirit that God allowed her to grace the world with for 78 years.
Elizabeth "Doll" was a Mother that cherished her children. There was not anything she wouldn't
do for her children. They were the heart and soul of her life. She believed that the same God
that had delivered her so many times, had also already delivered her from an earthly death.
Elizabeth"Doll" departed this life on May 31, 2020. She lived a good life but now it is her time to
rest. No more painful joints, no more tiredness, and no more medications. She's resting
peacefully until the wonderful day when she will reunite with family and friends.
