ERNEST CLYDE "STONEWALL" WATERS, JR.
Ernest Clyde Waters, also known as "Stonewall" was born on
March 5, 1954 in Cuba, AL to the late Ernest Hoover Waters
Sr. and Sally Waters. He was one of eight siblings (six brothers and one
sister).
Ernest had a very contagious smile and a very comical sense of
humor that would brighten the hearts of everyone he crossed
path with. There was never a dull moment whenever he was presence .
Ernest demonstrated what love for ALL was by having a big heart and
always trying to help everyone around him. He was a born comedian
that loved to laugh and joke. Ernest was a man among men, known to
family and acquaintances as a kind, generous, selfless, fun-filled person
who loved fiercely, gave freely, enjoyed life to the fullest, and always
put the needs of others before himself.
Ernest, transitioned from his earthly life on July 10th, 2020 to be
a laborer in God's Heavenly garden. God knew that for Ernest
to be absent from the body was Ernest to be present with Him.
Ernest, was introduced to the Lord at an early age, confessed a
belief in Christ and united with Grant's Chapel CME Church in
Cuba, Alabama, where he was a faithful member until he relocated to
Yazoo City, MS.
Ernest, received his educational studies from Kinterbish Public
Schools District and graduated from Sumter Central High
School. Upon graduation he began his work life as a logger.
Ernest, relocated to Yazoo City, MS and continued his career as a
logger for Delta Logging Company, where he enjoyed his work
life for many years.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Hoover
Waters, Sr. and Sally Waters, two bothers Victor and Moses
Waters and a very special aunt who affectionately had a helping hand in
raising him Beatrice J. Davis. One sister-in-law, Sarah CooperCatchings, two brothers-in-law Frank J. Cooper and Larry Earl
Robinson.
Ernest was united in Holy Matrimony to Virginia Cooper on
September 16, 1988 and together they had a helping hand in
raising several nieces and nephews and served as a mother and father
figure to their great nieces DeNyla and Serenity Taylor.
Ernest, affectionately called "Stonewall", leaves to hold in high
esteem his loving remembrance, his wife, Virginia CooperWaters of Yazoo City, MS, two sons, Bernard (Sherry) Johnson,
Michael (Shonda) Johnson both of Cuba AL, two daughters, Nakosha
Brown of Birmingham, AL and Katie Bell of Yazoo City, MS. One
sister who loved him dearly, Diane Croom of Cuba, AL, four brothers,
Willie Mack Rowe and Melvin Waters of Whitfield, AL, Randy
(Dorothy) Waters of Meridian, MS. And Gregory (Nancy) Waters of
Elyria, OH. Six sisters-in-law, Ivory Jean Nelson, Mary Ann Cooper,
Gloria Wallace, Diana Cooper, Annie Robinson and Heather Cooper,
all of Yazoo City, MS. Two brothers-in-law, Leslie Nelson and Jerome
Wallace of Yazoo City, MS. Six grandchildren, one special aunt Gerdie
Jenkins of York, AL, one special niece Deanna Jones of Yazoo City,
MS, an array of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends who loved him dearly.
Ernest, also remembering him with love and precious memories
are: his special friends, Roosevelt "Tag" Allen, Johnnie
McBorden and David Williams.
