Eugene Kinkaid Johnson was born on April 4, 1947, in Yazoo County, Mississippi. He departed this life of
September 5, 2022, at home around family. He loved his family more than anything. He was very generous and
playful. He will absolutely be missed under all circumstances. He loved to dance. "The Gene Shuffle,' is what he
did best! He was also an incredible friend who would bend over backwards for the ones he cared for.
Gene, as he was affectionately known, attended N.D. Taylor School in Yazoo City, MS. He worked and retired as
a professional commercial truck driver. He was baptized at True Light Baptist Church, under the leader of Reverend
Kirkwood. He later joined Community Baptist under the leadership of Reverend Larry Thomas. He then married
the love of his life, Lovace "Lubby" Johnson where they shared 50 years of marriage creating a beautiful life together.
Within their union, they have a total four children. Two daughters, Antionette (Duck) Greer and Roshanda (Allen
Carr) Johnson and two sons Eugene Johnson Jr. and Eric Clark.
Gene was preceded in death by both parents, Author and Maggie Johnson. Also, three brothers, Horace, Melvin,
and Pat Johnson, two sisters, Elsie Gardner and Cora Bivins.
He leaves to cherish; a loving wife: Lovace "Lubby" Johnson of Yazoo City, MS; two daughters: Antionette (Duck)
Greer of Jackson, MS and Roshanda (Allen Carr) Johnson of Yazoo City, MS; two sons: Eugene Johnson Jr. (Ken)
and Eric Clark (Eddie Pooh) of Yazoo City, MS; four sisters: Sadie Gould of Yazoo City, MS, Minnie (Leonard)
Turnage of Chicago, IL, Carlean (Willie) Love of Jackson, MS and Bessie (Gregory) Petrolia of Hammond, LA; two
brothers: Carl (Willie) Johnson of Yazoo City, MS and James (Lerita) Johnson of Fayetteville, AR; two sisters-in-
law: Fannie Johnson and Emma Johnson, both of Yazoo City, MS; along with a host of grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
