Harry E
Scott
Jan 12, 1952 — Sep 13, 2021
Rev. Harry Earl Scott was born on January 12,
1952 to Garrett Scott Sr. and Fannie Jones Scott
of Yazoo City, MS. He was the 8th of 12 children, and
accepted Christ at a tender age at Tulane Missionary
Baptist Church, remaining faithful until his earthly
departure.
Harry was a notable minister, psalmist, and musician from
a very young age, utilizing the piano and keyboard to
melodically display the tapestry of his soul. Because he
was an exceptional student deemed academically gifted
and talented at Yazoo City High School in Yazoo City,
Mississippi, Harry was recruited to be a participant in the
ABC (A Better Chance) program at Andover High School
(Class of 1970) in Andover, MA, where he completed
advanced high school studies and lived with an amazing
host family—The Viehmanns, whom he loved
dearly. After graduating high school, Harry was accepted
into Tufts University—an ivy league institution in Boston,
MA and would later graduate with a degree in Political
Science (Class of 1974).
Upon his return to Mississippi, Harry served in
many occupational capacities, but his love of God
and music would lead him to use his intellect and musical
giftings as an oracle of the Gospel of Jesus Christ;
warming the hearts of all who would hear him sing and
play the piano and encouraging every soul that would
listen to his teachings. In this stead, Harry finally
answered his call into ministry and was licensed to preach
on June 24, 1998. He was officially ordained as a minister
at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Pass Christian,
MS on July 10, 2004; thereafter, serving selflessly as
Pastor of Mt. Zion Church in Douglassville, TX and
Minister of Music at various churches in Chicago, IL, Pass
Christian, MS, Yazoo City, MS, Silver City, MS, Cass
County, TX and beyond. Busloads of supporters would
travel across state lines to witness the glory of God flow
through this yielded vessel. He has since served as a
faithful musician and guest speaker for several churches
throughout the nation. Through all of satan's attacks and
life's trials, Harry continued to remain steadfast in
studying and spreading the Word of God.
