James Mitchell McLeod, II also known as "MaKK, Mr. MaKK, and
Boss" was born July 26, 1971, in Gordon, Georgia, to James M. McLeod
and Glenda R. Thompson. He was the only child to this union. MaKK
grew up in a strong supportive Christian family in St. Louis, MO where
he was nurtured by his grandparents, Willie and Minnie Lee Marshall,
and his mother, Glenda. James accepted Christ at an early age and was
baptized at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, MO.
James graduated from Soldan High School, Class of '89, where he was
a member of National Honors Society and the Soldan Marching Band.
He attended college at Mississippi Valley State University where he met
his beloved wife, Delnessa Cameron McLeod in the Fall of 1993. James
married Delnessa on June 28th, 1998. To this union was born two daughters and one son, Da'Jailyn Keshelle, Ja'Kaitlyn Michelle, and James-Dylan
Mitchell.
MaKK was a gifted musician, composer, writer and a man of many talents. During his musical career he mastered the following instruments:
flute, clarinet, all saxophones, trumpet, baritone, trombone, tuba, piano,
keyboards, organ, guitar, and various percussion instruments. Through-
out his life, he was a man of God, director, teacher, mentor, brother, and
friend. Despite his many accomplishments the greatest for him was being
a loving and devoted husband and father.
