Jeanette Conerly
Scott
Jan 29, 1964 — May 16, 2022
Jeanette Andranette Conerly Scott was born to the late Deacon Joe Edward Conerly and Mrs. Annie Mae Conerly of McComb, Mississippi on January 29,1964.
Jeanette began her Christian journey as a child at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She served as an active member of the Junior and Senior choir and as Sunday School secretary. Jeanette's leadership skills were displayed at an early age.
She faithfully encouraged and monitored her younger siblings while her parents worked.
She graduated with honors from South Pike High School in 1982. Following graduation, she earned an Associate Degree from Southwest Junior College and later went to the University of Southern Mississippi. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi with an emphasis in Paralegal Studies in the Spring of 1987.
On December 19, 1987, she was united in holy matrimony to Micah Jerome Scott at the Amazing Church of God in Christ in Jackson, Mississippi. On the next day, Micah and Jeanette officially moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where they remained until the time of her passing.
She worked as a professional paralegal and abstracter. Her career began at & Gamble Law Firm in Purvis, Mississippi. Later, she worked at W.J.
"Pete" Gamble in Purvis, Mississippi, where she was employed for 18 years. Her employer for the last 16 years was Perry Phillips, Esq. at TSI Title Service, Inc, in Purvis, Mississippi.
Lady Jeanette, as she was affectionately called, was one of the founding members and of course, the First Lady of Tabernacle of Prayer Church of God in Christ for 33 years. She was a tireless church worker and leader. She served as the Church's first greeter and developed the Ushers and Greeters Ministry. She had a passion for the Church nursery and served on the Nursery Board. She also coordinated
and led the prayer ministry. Along with Pastor Scott, she led Vowed, the Couples Ministry, Virtue, the Women's Ministry and served as a church announcer. On most 5th Sundays, you could find her at Latter Rain Church of God in Christ in Waynesboro, Mississippi ministering to the Saints on Women's Day.
Lady Jeanette was a tireless worker for the Kingdom of God. For the jurisdiction, Mississippi Southern Second Jurisdiction, she served as the Vice President of the Pastors' and Elders' Wives' Circle. In the community, she served as an advisor for the University of Southern Mississippi's Paralegal Studies Advisory Board and a member of the Domestic Abuse Women's Shelter Board. Jeanette was truly a woman of excellence in every way. Her life demonstrated integrity, intelligence, energy, and hard work. She was a woman of prayer and
faith filled with compassion and love for God's people. She was never the type to sit down and watch others work. She knew how to delegate but believed that everyone had to participate. If there was an area at church that required cleaning, First Lady or not, her gift of serving and compassion would not allow her to just bsit and watch. She would lend her hands to whatever she found to do and needed
to be done. Sis. Scott had a tenacious and unconditional love for her children and her family, her church family and her husband. Jeanette Andranette Scott, 58, went home to be with the Lord shortly after midnight on Monday, May 16, 2022, from Forrest General Hospital. While holding the hand of her husband and without any pain or suffering, she took a few last breaths and fell asleep. Lady Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Joe Conerly, and two brothers Timothy and Joseph Conerly. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Pastor Micah J. Scott Sr.; two sons, Micah Jr., and Moses; and one daughter, Joanna (all of Hattiesburg, MS); her mother, Annie Mae Conerly of McComb, Mississippi;
her brother Johnny (Trisha) Wells of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Patricia Hill of Dallas, Texas; a brother Andre Gibson presently serving overseas in the military; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Lady Jeanette Scott fought a good fight. She kept the faith and now she is in the presence of the Ones she loved the most, her Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
