Jerome Ronald Wallace was born in Sumter County, Alabama on September 21, 1951, to Maggie Ruth Graves and Nathaniel Wallace (Lard, Sr). He was raised by his grandmother Lizzie Wallace and stepmother, Jessie Lard. He was one of thirteen siblings by his mother and father.
Jerome came to Mississippi as an adult with several friends from his hometown in Alabama on a job assignment. He later made Mississippi his permanent residence when he married Gloria Jones of Yazoo City, MS. Together Jerome and Gloria raised five children.
Jerome was a man of faith. He received Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Church of Christ in Yazoo City, MS.
He was a loving father and a friend to many people he embraced with his presence in the community. He was a man of kindness and good deeds. He was known for his genuine personality and willingness to help others. He was a man who loved nature and the outdoors. He had a profound love for pets. He found pleasure in fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always a supporter of family gatherings at any given occasion.
Jerome worked over 30 years as a machine operator in the lumber industry. He was employed through Double G Contracting, LLC where he recently retired in 2021. Throughout his years of employment, he became acquainted with many of his coworkers and developed a family of friends. He was a hard worker and developed a passion for operating heavy machinery as a young adult.
On, January 27, 2022, Jerome Wallace departed from his earthly life and was born into eternity. Jerome was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Ruth Graves; father, Nathaniel Wallace (Lard Sr); siblings, Viola Chaney, Willie Earl Lard and Jeffrey King Bryant; brother-in-law, Willie L. Moore, Sr. He was preceded in death by 3 children: Anita Wallace of Cleveland, OH, Jerome Wallace of Cuba, AL and Ronald Wallace of Yazoo City, MS.
Jerome leaves to cherish his memories and life, five daughters, Tracey Straight of Cuba, AL; Leslie Gibbs of Gulfport, MS; Tania Horne of Manchester, CT; Germonique Wallace and LaCrystal Jones of Yazoo City, MS; five sons, Robert Seals of Pell City, AL; Curtis Wallace and Chris Wallace of Cleveland, OH; Mirenzo (Yolanda) Jones and Charlie Jones of Yazoo City, MS; four sisters, Barbara Anderson-Moore of Lipscomb, AL; Anita (Steve) Bryant-Caver of Birmingham, AL; Sarah Keaton of Whitfield, AL; Bernice Lard of Livingston, AL; five brothers, Alan L. Anderson of Midfield, AL; Thomas Wayne (Cassandra) Wallace of Bessemer, AL; James Johnson of Berwyn, IL; Nathaniel (Juanita) Lard, Jr and Robert Earl Lard of Livingston, AL. He also leaves behind a special grandson, Arhmad Cummings and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
