Joel "Pete" Woods' Obituary
Joel Edward Woods was born on April 13, 1954, to the
late Doris E. Woods and the late Glenn Scott. He
departed his earthly home on April 26, 2022, at Baptist
Hospital, Jackson, MS.
Joel was baptized at Oak Grove African Methodist
Episcopal Church in Benton, Mississippi under the
leadership of Rev. H.M. Foster. He graduated from Benton
High School in 1972. Joel affectionately known as "Uncle
Pete" loved working outdoors, fixing vehicles and farm
equipment, and making everyone laugh. Joel was truly a
country boy in every sense. He loved his family and friends
wholeheartedly. He was well known throughout the Benton
community and surrounding areas.
Joel leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Cynthia D.
Woods of Jackson, Mississippi; his aunt, Dr. Hazeltine
Woods-
Fouche' of Benton, Mississippi; two nieces Sybil
(Markus) Meadows of Jackson, Mississippi; La Tonja (Eric)
Ellis of Crete, Illinois; and one nephew, Fabian M. Woods
of Jackson, Mississippi. He also leaves behind a host of
great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends.
