Harris, Jr.

John Henry Harris was born July 5, 1938 to the late
Sarah Pitchford and John Henry Harris, Sr. in Holmes
County, MS. He departed this life on April 9, 2020. He
was the second child of eight siblings. He was a provider
and protector for his loving mother, siblings and family. Preceding him in death was his sister Annie L
Armstrong, brother, William Thomas Harris, aunts,
Cora P. Montgomery, Codelia Booker, Carrie Moore,
grandson, Corinthians D. Dixon, granddaughter, Jonetha
Lacy, and his beloved wife, Deloris Croom Harris.
John Henry acknowledged Christ as his savior during
his childhood under the leadership of Supt. O.S.
Sheard, later pastor Elder Percy Dean, Jr., and currently
Elder William Dean, Jr. John Henry was a dedicated
trustee, board member, Pastor's Aid, and former car
parker until his health declined. He was a diligent
supporter of his church obligations John Henry attended Ambrose High School. He was
employed at T&T grocery store for 40 plus years,
Mallory Clinic, People Drug Store, and Harris Lawn
Service. He had an infectious smile and grew up as a
humorous child and continued as a loving, caring and
friendly adult. He often referred to himself as John
Henry or Mr. Harris, he enjoyed watching Impact
Christian Network, listening to Pastor Dean radio
Ministry and gospel music. He leaves to cherish his memories, Lanelle Harris
–
Rimpson, of Clinton, MS., Debra Harris (Curtis)
Dixon, and John Henry T. Harris both of Lexington,
MS., three sisters, Hattie P. Owens, Lillie (Melvin)
Garnett of Chicago, Ill., Mary (John) Scott of Yazoo City,
MS, a devoted granddaughter and caregiver, DeJohnessa
L. Dixon, grandson, Curtis Dixon, Jr., and Curtissa
Dixon Watson that he raised and uniquely spoiled, loyal
grandson, Jeffery Coleman, and nephew, William T.
Harris, Jr. and granddaughter, Wontavius L. Rimpson, 12
grandchildren, 10 great grandchild and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He also raised his
nephew / son, Charles V. Jones.
