MOTHER MAMIE ALLEN
Mamie Allen, was born in Tunica County on October 31, 1944 to Norman and Laura Allen, who preceded her in death. Mamie was the youngest of eight siblings, who all preceded her in death.
Mamie accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age at the Christian Rest Baptist Church in Tunica County, Ms., under the leadership of Rev. R. L. Hill. There she was active in Church being Sunday School Sectary, Asst. Junior Sunday School Teacher, and the BTU, where she won numerous awards for her county.
Mamie was educated at Tunica County Schools where she graduated from Rosa Fort High School.
Mamie was united in holy matrimony to Leonard McKinney Jr. , two children were born to this union, Mona L. Drummond of California and Leonard (Prince) McKinney III, who preceded her in death.
Mamie moved to Yazoo City in 1975 and joined the New King Solomon M. B. Church. She served on the ushers board and mission society. She later joined New Zion M. B. Church on October 16, 2005. There she served in the Sunday School, the Mission Society faithfully until her health failed. She was a faithful Mother of the Church.
Mamie gave up this earthly life on January 10, 2020 to began her heavenly life. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mona (Steve) Drummond, granddaughters, Purshiva and Oksana, great granddaughter, Malaysia , her heart) Sis. Helen Barton, nieces, Joyce (Larry) Ray and Keyanna (Tim) Ervin, nephews, Joe Boyd and Willie Rayford, aunts, Anna Green and Cora Venderson, three sister-n-laws, a host of loving friends and church members that were so dear to her.
