Mrs. Ora Lee Grant was born on March 14, 1944 in Yazoo County, MS to the late Homer Green and Claudine Green-Blocker.
Ora was a graduate of Linwood High School Class of 1960. She confessed and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She joined New Hope M.B. Church many years ago which is now under the leadership of Reverend Willie McCullum. Ora served faithfully as the President of the Usher Board for years until her health began to fail.
Ora was employed with Eli Whitney doing her early years of marriage and in later years she worked at Yazoo County Human Resources and the Yazoo County Visitor Bureau.
Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Sampson Grant Sr.; brothers: Alvin Green Sr., Homer Green Jr., Willie James Green and Lawrence Green; sister: Claudine Brown and Janice Kirkland; granddaughter: N'Kevia Jones; grandson: Kameron Grant, and a special nephew/son Alvin Green, Jr.
She leaves her children: Sampson (Carla) Grant Sr. (Grand Prairie, TX), Kerioon (Venessa) Grant Sr. (Arlington, TX), Alvita Grant (Yazoo City, MS), and one loving adopted daughter, Ashley N. Thomas (Yazoo City, MS); brothers: Benny (Alice) Green Sr. (Grenada, MS), Joseph (Dedra) Blocker (Columbus, GA), and Jeffery (Glennis) Blocker (Dallas, TX); uncle: Emmitt Earl Martin (Canton, OH); sister: Marilyn (Frederick) Shelby (Yazoo City, MS); eleven grandchildren: Pagenn Walker and Quntasia Haymer (Yazoo City, MS), Akeema Carter, Kerioon Grant Jr., Kewanee Grant, Kemari Grant, Sampson Grant III, Samarquiis Carter, Carlyjah Grant, Jaheim Miles, Narziuna Collins, and Deandria Wilson; six great grandchildren: Paden Morris, Paxton Walker, Kelby Smith, Kenan Latiker, I'Nayah Norwood, Major Ruffin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her loving memories.
