Obituary

Mr. Roosevelt Hatchett, Jr. was born November 23,1957 to the late Roosevelt Sr. and Stella
Hatchett, of Yazoo City, MS. Roosevelt, Jr. was the 2nd eldest of 16 children among his mother
and father; Mary Hatchett McClendon, Evelyn Hatchett Palmer (Jerald), Deborah Hatchett
Bland, Stacie Hatchett Powell, Kenneth Hatchett of Jackson, MS; Marilyn Robinson, Ricky
Robinson (Elayne) of Yazoo City, MS; Anel Owens, Tonia Owens of Detroit, MI. Roosevelt was
preceded in death by his siblings Milton Hatchett, Michael Hatchett, Johnny Hatchett, Dexter
Hatchett, Irvin Owens, and Stella Lewis. Roosevelt, Jr. was also preceded in death by his loving
mother - in - law, Ernestine D. Grove, sisters - in-law Mary G. Moore and Bobby Gray Fears.
Roosevelt Jr. accepted Christ at an early age and was no stranger to the Word and works of the
Lord. Roosevelt Jr. received his high school diploma with Yazoo City High School, class of 1975.
He furthered his education at Alcorn State University where he was a star baseball player. He
also worked part time in Yazoo City at Black and White Department Store. Roosevelt Jr. later
left Alcorn University and Black and White Department and began his tenure at MS Chemical
Plant, now known as CF Industries, where he remained for the past 42 years.
In the year of 1978, Roosevelt met the love of his life, Willie B. Davis. They were later married
August 14, 1992, and raised 3 children; Kawanda Davis (Michael), Karisma Davis, and Roosevelt
Hatchett, III (Leiundra), of Yazoo City, MS. Roosevelt,Jr. was an amazing husband, a loving and
supportive father and grandfather, and devoted his life to ensuring his family was well taken
care of. He was a very outgoing man and a pillar of the community, where his contributions will
never be forgotten. He and his friends formed Bae Bae Kids and the 21 Social Clubs. They
committed many kind acts for the children of the community and made sure they had
memorable summers.
Roosevelt leaves behind a great legacy; his devoted wife, Mrs. Willie B. Hatchett; his children,
Kawanda, Karisma, Roosevelt, III; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of
siblings, sisters - in - law, brothers - in - law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The life of this
man was genuinely appreciated and he will truly be missed.
