WILLIE ANN WATERS-CARTER

Ms. Willie Ann Waters-Carter was born on May 25,1925 to the late Bailey and Patsey Thatcher-
Waters in Yazoo County.

At an early age Willie Ann confessed to Christ and
joined Saint Matthews No.2 Church of God in
Christ under the leadership of Rev. S. Jones and later
relocated to Ever Increasing Faith COGIC under the
leadership of Elder Charles Jefferson. She was a faithful and
active member until illness prevented her from attending.
Willie Ann received her education in Yazoo County.
In 1945, Willie Ann met and was joined in holy
matrimony to Mr. Howard Carter Sr. and to this
union, no children were born.
Ms. Willie Ann was known as "Sweet, Aunt Lennie,
Momma, Big momma, and granny." Although she
didn't have any children of her own. She reared his nieces,
great nieces, nephews and the community children. She was
loved by everyone, and other matriarchs of her family. In her
spare time she enjoyed quilting, cooking and raising children.
On October 30, 2021 at her home, Ms. Willie Ann's
journey was complete.
Ms. Willie Ann was preceded in death by her
parents, Bailey and Patsey Tatcher Water.
Husband-Howard Carter Sr., Sisters: Lillie Ann Foster, Lillian
C. Stark, Alice Mae Donaldson, Mary Waters, and Ida Waters;
brothers: Jerry Waters, Lewis Waters; Nieces; Hannah
Babara, Nephews: Howard Jr, Dan, Joe Willie, Bailey and
W.C. Dotts;
Ms. WIllie Ann leaves to cherish her great and
fundamental memories, her nieces, nephews, great
nieces, great nephews, and all other relatives and children in
the community that she helped reared.
