Willie Farris was born on September 29, 1954 to Hubert Farris,
Sr., and Lillie Bell Farris-Sanders.
Willie graduated from Holly Bluff High School in 1974. He was
employed by the city of Jackson and Coca Cola for over 30 years
until he retired.
Willie married the love of his life, Ruth, on December 16, 1975.
To this union, he and Ruth were blessed with Tamiko, Bernitta,
and Khadijah.
Willie had a passion for hunting and fishing. He especially loved
to enjoy them with his loved ones. He was also a sports fanatic;
he played basketball and baseball until his health failed him.
He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and later joined
King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, where he served
as the Co-Superintendent of Sunday School, President of the
Deacon Ministry, Church Property Manager, Sanctuary Choir
Member, a founding member and soloist of the Male Choir, a
Sunday and Bible School teacher, and a mentor to many.
Willie departed this life on July 22, 2020. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Hubert Farris, Sr. and Lillie Bell FarrisSanders, and his sister, Geretha Lewis.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Ruth
Farris; three daughters, Tamiko (Herbert) Moorehead, Bernitta
Jones Farris, and Khadijah Farris; his sisters, Doris (Willie)
Woodard, Mary (Joseph) Whitaker, and Brenda Farris; his
brothers, Hubert (Lucy) Farris, Jr., Charles (Gwen) Farris, and
Benjamin (Lucille) Langston; his grandchildren, Herbert
Moorehead, Jr., Mikayla Williams, Hayden Moorehead, Hunter
Moorehead, Jordan Hall, and Kacin Farris; his mother-in-law,
Mary Fry; four sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; three good
friends, Donny "Fred" Frazier, Michael Wilson, and Alex "Pee
Wee" Stevenson; another special friend, Bill Crosby; and his
King Solomon M. B. Church family; and a host of family, friends,
and other loved ones.
